Membership Response to Board Requests<\/u> Requests<\/u> \u2013 A memorandum from Dr.\u00a0Stewart dated 16 November 2017 indicates the following decisions by the Members of the Corporation:<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/u>CORRESPONDENCE<\/u><\/p>\n Thank You Card from Trottier Family<\/u> — This card from Anne Bethune and the Trottier family thanked the Board of Directors for the flowers sent at the time of their mother\u2019s (Marguerite\u2019s) funeral.<\/p>\n CORPORATE LIAISON\u2019S REPORT<\/u><\/p>\n Development of Former Regional House Property in Amherstview<\/u> \u2013 For this item, Sister\u00a0Valade provided an update:\u00a0 three congregations were invited to the recent official opening and were served a delicious lunch.\u00a0 A physician from Napanee purchased the property several years ago and developed it.\u00a0 The facility is now called The Windsor Retirement Home and offers retirement living and low-income housing.\u00a0 The main entrance is beautiful.\u00a0 In the entry to the former Chapel, the stained glass of the Holy Family was preserved.\u00a0 The former Chapel area is now a quiet area and library.\u00a0 The former altar is now a fireplace area.\u00a0 The marble, steps and rail were kept.\u00a0 The kitchen and dining room are in the same location as before.\u00a0 The lettering \u201cSt.\u00a0Joseph Regional House\u201d remains as well as the statues and bell from the monastery.\u00a0 The grounds are beautiful.\u00a0 All are pleased that the new owner has respected the wishes of the Religious Hospitallers of St.\u00a0Joseph and that this repurposed facility honours the mission of the Sisters while maintaining its heritage.<\/p>\n Film of the Closing of Hotel Dieu Hospital in Montreal, \u201cThe Last Breath\u201d<\/u> \u2013 Efforts will be made to have this film available for viewing at the next Board meeting.\u00a0 Sister Cuddihy will lend us the DVD.<\/p>\n ADMINISTRATION REPORT<\/u><\/p>\n Mrs. Lafrance-Allaire\u2019s report included Sub-acute Capacity Planning (SACP), Small Hospital Status (new designation for Hotel Dieu Hospital, Cornwall), 2017-18<\/em> Management Goals<\/em> (update), Resident Quality Inspection (appended to Administration Report), Staff Education (Annual Training completed in November), Good News Items (Silver Level achieved for \u201cHealthy Foods\u201d Project; Ministry promises new investments in Long-Term Care including 30,000 beds over ten years plus an increase to four hours of care per resident per day) and Census Data.<\/p>\n Policy Review<\/u> \u2013 The Board of Directors approved the following policies as presented:\u00a0 1) Corporate Policy #3-a-92 re Procurement Code of Ethics; <\/em>and 2) Corporate Policy #3-a-91 re Corporate Procurement Policy.<\/em><\/p>\n Smoke-Free Facility<\/u> \u2013 As of 01 January 2018, smoking and vaping will no longer be permitted on the Centre\u2019s property in order to comply with the Smoke-Free Ontario Act<\/em>.<\/p>\n ETHICS AND MISSION COMMITTEE<\/u><\/p>\n Palliative and End-of-Life Care Education for Staff<\/u> \u2013 Appended to the minutes was the full learning package which was provided to every employee during the Annual Education Days.<\/p>\n Lights of Hope Campaign<\/u> \u2013 Ms. MacLennan reminded the Board of the Foundation\u2019s Lights of Hope Campaign which is presently underway.<\/p>\n COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING, FINANCE AND PERSONNEL RELATIONS COMMITTEE (CPFPRC<\/u>)<\/p>\n Financial Statements<\/u><\/em> \u2013 Ms. Dor\u00e9 reviewed the statements and responded to questions.\u00a0 A surplus is forecast for year end.\u00a0 The Board of Directors approved the Financial Statements for the Period Ending 31 October 2017<\/em> as presented.<\/p>\n Management Fiduciary Statement<\/u><\/em> – The Board of Directors approved the Management Fiduciary Statement for October 2017.<\/em><\/p>\n Cybersecurity Insurance<\/u> \u2013The Committee is reviewing cybersecurity insurance.\u00a0 More information will be available at the next meeting.<\/p>\n Construction Feasibility Study<\/u> \u2013 Renderings will soon be available for this project.<\/p>\n Hospital Accountability Planning Submission (HAPS)<\/u><\/em> — While the move to a small hospital for 2018\/19 had been communicated, no information regarding funding has been received.\u00a0 Therefore, in order to have a HAPS<\/em> submitted by November 24th, the assumptions were that our current revenues would be carried forward with a 1% budgeted increase in the base and Health System Funding Reform (HSFR) funds.\u00a0 There will be further discussion with the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) through December and possibly January before it is finalized.<\/p>\n AUXILIARY REPORT<\/u><\/p>\n Snowflake Bazaar<\/u> \u2013 Mrs. Payette invited all to this important event on December 7th<\/sup> in Jeanne Mance Hall.\u00a0 Crafts, Christmas articles, baked goods and gently-used white elephant items will be available for purchase, and a raffle will be held.<\/p>\n PROFESSIONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE<\/u><\/p>\n Dr. Yitemben Tchouatieu<\/u> \u2013 The Board of Directors approved Dr. Yitemben Tchouatieu\u2019s appointment to the Associate Staff.<\/p>\n EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES<\/u> \u2013 The Centre\u2019s Education Calendar<\/em> for December 2017 and Governance Educational Opportunities were circulated to the Board of Directors for information.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0The next regular Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Tuesday, 09 January 2018 at noon in the Boardroom.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 05 December 2017.
