{"id":1258,"date":"2018-01-26T12:00:34","date_gmt":"2018-01-26T17:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sjccc.ca\/sjeng\/?p=1258"},"modified":"2018-01-26T12:01:54","modified_gmt":"2018-01-26T17:01:54","slug":"summary-of-the-january-2018-board-of-directors-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sjccc.ca\/sjeng\/?p=1258","title":{"rendered":"Summary of the January 2018 Board of Directors Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>REPORT FROM THE BOARD<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 09 January 2018.<\/p>\n<p><u>ADMINISTRATION REPORT<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Lafrance-Allaire\u2019s report included Ontario Telemedicine Network Educational Session invitation for Board Members on January 17<sup>th<\/sup> from 3-5 p.m. re Indigenous Sensitivity Training, Sub-acute Capacity Planning (the <em>Inpatient Capacity Plan<\/em> costed by the Financial Impact Work Group will be available in late January 2018), Good News Items (letter from Connecting Ontario, recognizing our Centre\u2019s participation and adoption of the Connecting Ontario Clinical Viewer; several special Christmas events held; and Advent Mass with Archbishop Prendergast), Movie, \u201cThe Last Breath\u201d (about Hotel Dieu Hospital Montreal) will be shown in February, and Census Data.\u00a0 Also discussed:<\/p>\n<p><u>\u201cOur Team\u201d Boards<\/u> \u2013 These digital boards are now fully operational on all Long-Term Care units.\u00a0 They display a photograph and the first name of caregivers and workers currently on duty in that area.\u00a0 Identification badge lanyards match the colour of the wearer\u2019s discipline.\u00a0 This initiative was introduced to improve communication within our Centre.\u00a0 Our <em>Resident Survey<\/em> has been updated to include a question regarding the usefulness of the boards in order to measure the success of the initiative.<\/p>\n<p><u>Policy Review<\/u> \u2013 Board of Directors Policy #2-a-4 re <em>Board of Directors Conflict of Interest Disclosure <\/em>was approved as presented.<\/p>\n<p><u>QUALITY IMPROVEMENT \/ SAFETY COMMITTEE<\/u><\/p>\n<p><em><u>2017 Risk Management Plan<\/u><\/em> \u2013 One change made in 2017 was in relation to Resident Abuse which was changed from moderate impact to high impact.\u00a0 The Board of Directors approved the <em>2017 Risk Management Plan<\/em> be approved as presented.<\/p>\n<p><u>Policy Review<\/u> &#8212; Board of Directors Policy #2-a-20 re <em>Quality Improvement \/ Safety Committee<\/em> was approved as circulated.<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Health and Safety Audit 2017 Action Plan<\/u><\/em> \u2013 The reported deficiencies have been rectified according to the <em>Action Plan.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><u>Resident and Patient Satisfaction Survey<\/u><\/em> &#8212; The overall results were favourable.\u00a0 Next year there will be a survey for residents and a survey for patients in order to facilitate addressing issues or concerns.<\/p>\n<p><u>COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING, FINANCE AND PERSONNEL RELATIONS COMMITTEE (CPFPRC<\/u>)<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Hospital Accountability Planning Submission (HAPS)<\/u><\/em> \u2013 We have submitted the HAPS and are awaiting discussion with the Local Health Iintegration Network (LHIN) in order to arrive at a mutually-agreed upon <em>HAPS<\/em> before 31\u00a0January 2018.<\/p>\n<p><u>Cybersecurity Insurance<\/u> \u2013 The Committee continues to review cybersecurity insurance.<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Financial Statements<\/u><\/em> \u2013 Ms. Dor\u00e9 reviewed the statements.\u00a0 There was no discussion.\u00a0 A surplus in each operation is forecast for year end.\u00a0 The Board of Directors approved the <em>Financial Statements for the Period Ending 30 November 2017<\/em> as presented.<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Management Fiduciary Statement<\/u><\/em> &#8211; The Board of Directors approved the <em>Management Fiduciary Statement for November 2017.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><u>2018-19 Budget<\/u><\/em> \u2013 The Board of Directors recommended to the Members of the Corporation the budget which has already been reviewed by the Fiscal Advisory Committee:<\/p>\n<p>-Long-Term Care:\u00a0 $13,247,420 with a projected surplus of $2,577;<\/p>\n<p>-Complex Continuing Care:\u00a0 $9,453,297 with a projected surplus of $5,192; and<\/p>\n<p>-(Combined) Capital Budget of $95,000 for the Centre.<\/p>\n<p><u>AUXILIARY REPORT<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Payette summarized her report.\u00a0 The Snowflake Bazaar was very successful.\u00a0 The Auxiliary was able to contribute $1,000 to the Lights of Hope Campaign.\u00a0 Casino trips will resume at the end of January.\u00a0 The Annual Genie Wish will be held on February 14<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><u>FISCAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (FAC)<\/u><\/p>\n<p><em><u>2018-19 Budget<\/u><\/em> \u2013 The FAC met to review and discuss the budget as part of the budget approval process.<\/p>\n<p><u>Terms of Reference<\/u> \u2013 Board of Directors Policy #2-a-28 re <em>Fiscal Advisory Committee<\/em> was approved by the Board of Directors, as recommended by the FAC.<\/p>\n<p><u>EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES<\/u> \u2013 The Centre\u2019s <em>Education Calendar<\/em> for January 2018 Governance Educational Opportunities were circulated to the Board of Directors for information.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0The next regular Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Tuesday, 06 February 2018 at noon in the Boardroom.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>REPORT FROM THE BOARD The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 09 January 2018.
