{"id":1297,"date":"2018-03-22T17:35:23","date_gmt":"2018-03-22T21:35:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sjccc.ca\/sjeng\/?p=1297"},"modified":"2018-03-22T17:35:23","modified_gmt":"2018-03-22T21:35:23","slug":"summary-of-the-march-2018-board-of-directors-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sjccc.ca\/sjeng\/?p=1297","title":{"rendered":"Summary of the March 2018 Board of Directors Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>REPORT FROM THE BOARD<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 06 March 2018.<\/p>\n<p><u>CORRESPONDENCE<\/u><\/p>\n<p><u>Thank You Card from Ms. Petersen<\/u> \u2013 This card was received for an In Memoriam donation made for her father, Kenneth Boose.<\/p>\n<p><u>CHARPERSON\u2019S REPORT<\/u><\/p>\n<p><u>Overcrowding in Hospitals<\/u> \u2013 Mr. Desnoyers recently attended a meeting of Board Chairpersons at the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) at which overcrowding in hospitals was discussed.\u00a0 Most hospitals are currently overcrowded.\u00a0 Some hospitals in Ottawa have declared a Code Orange in order to stop patients from going to their hospital.<\/p>\n<p><u>ADMINISTRATION REPORT<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Lafrance-Allaire\u2019s report included PointClickCare<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR) Implementation, French Language Services Testing, Good News Items, and Census Data.\u00a0 Also discussed:<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Long-Term Care Service Accountability Agreement (L-SAA) Schedule E re Declaration of Compliance<\/u><\/em> &#8212; <em>Schedule E <\/em>re <em>Form of Compliance Declaration <\/em>is an annual requirement under the <em>L-SAA<\/em> with the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).\u00a0 Mrs.\u00a0Lafrance-Allaire declared that St. Joseph\u2019s Continuing Care Centre is in compliance with the requirements.\u00a0 The Board of Directors approved <em>Schedule E.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><u>Organizational Accountability Report<\/u><\/em> \u2013 Catholic Health International (CHI) has requested that all Boards complete by consensus on a yearly basis the <em>Organizational Accountability Report.\u00a0 <\/em>This survey document was pre-circulated.\u00a0 The Board completed it together.\u00a0 Ms. Surch recorded the responses and will submit the completed report to CHI.<\/p>\n<p><u>QUALITY IMPROVEMENT \/ SAFETY COMMITTEE<\/u><\/p>\n<p><em><u>Balanced Scorecard<\/u><\/em> \u2013 A Quality Team will develop new metrics for Complex Continuing Care (CCC).\u00a0 As well, this Quality Team will analyze the Long-Term Care (LTC) Nursing data for \u201cPressure Ulcers\u201d, \u201cAntipsychotic Use\u201d, \u201cWorsened Depressive Mood\u201d, and \u201cWorsening Pain\u201d in order to take appropriate action.<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)<\/u><\/em> \u2013 Both LTC and CCC are required to file a <em>QIP <\/em>annually. Some of the indicators are mandatory and chosen by the Government, and others can be chosen by the facilities.\u00a0 Mrs. Lafrance-Allaire highlighted the results from last year and presented targets for next year.\u00a0 The deadline for submitting the Board-approved <em>QIP<\/em>s to Health Quality Ontario and posting on our website is 01 April 2018.\u00a0 The Board of Directors approved the <em>Balanced Scorecard and QIPs for CCC and LTC for 2018-19<\/em> as presented<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><u>COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING, FINANCE AND PERSONNEL RELATIONS COMMITTEE (CPFPRC<\/u>)<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Financial Statements<\/u><\/em> \u2013 A surplus in each operation is forecast for year end.\u00a0 The Board of Directors approved the <em>Financial Statements for the Period Ending 31 January 2018<\/em> as presented.<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Management Fiduciary Statement<\/u><\/em> &#8211; The Board of Directors approved the <em>Management Fiduciary Statement for January 2018.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><u>AUXILIARY REPORT<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Winner of the Genie Wish Draw on February 14<sup>th<\/sup> was the Housekeeping Department and they will be granted their wish for a new vacuum.\u00a0 A very generous and much appreciated donation of $25,000 was made by the Auxiliary to the Centre for the purchase of equipment needed to enhance the life of the residents.\u00a0 The Spring Conference will be on April 25<sup>th<\/sup> in Winchester.\u00a0 The Auxiliary\u2019s next fundraiser will be their Garage Sale on May 5<sup>th<\/sup> at Ste-Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Parish Hall.\u00a0 All were pleased that Rachelle Lamond, the Auxiliary\u2019s Casino Trip Convenor and former President, recently received the \u201cCitizen of the Year\u201d Award for her extensive volunteering in the community.<\/p>\n<p><u>EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES<\/u> \u2013 The Centre\u2019s <em>Education Calendar<\/em> for March 2018 and Governance Educational Opportunities were circulated to the Board of Directors for information.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The next regular Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Tuesday, 03 April 2018 at noon in the Boardroom.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>REPORT FROM THE BOARD The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 06 March 2018.
