CORPORATE SISTER LIAISON\u2019S REPORT<\/u> \u2013 Ms. MacLennan noted the passing of Mrs. Fran\u00e7oise Bryan, wife of Rev. Mr. Gordon Bryan who sat on this Board of Directors for more than 40 years.\u00a0 Fran was an active volunteer in our Gift Shop and will be missed.\u00a0 Flowers will be sent on behalf of the Board of Directors and Staff.<\/p>\n
REPORT FROM ADMINISTRATION<\/u><\/p>\n
Mrs. Lafrance-Allaire\u2019s report included Sub-acute Capacity Planning Status Report (recognition of SJCCC efforts by Local Health Integration Network), Management Goals and Objectives for 2018-19<\/em>; Hospital Service Accountability Agreement (HSAA) <\/em>amendment updating both our base and one-time funding; Public Posting of Long-Term Care Home Performance (on Ministry\u2019s public website, indicating four performance levels), Good News Item (letter of congratulations from Ms. Chantal LeClerc for achieving Silver status in the Healthy Foods in Champlain Hospitals Initiative), and Census Data.\u00a0 The Board of Directors approved the report from Administration, including the Management Goals and Objectives for 2018-19, <\/em>and the Hospital Service Accountability Agreement (HSAA) <\/em>amendment.<\/p>\n QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (QI) \/ SAFETY COMMITTEE<\/u><\/p>\n Balanced Scorecard<\/u><\/em> \u2013 Comfort rounds will be implemented during the summer months.\u00a0 These include frequent checks on residents and patients (once per hour); and result in less call bells being used, and increased resident\/patient satisfaction.<\/p>\n Dr. Randlett also noted that there were no communicable diseases or outbreaks in the last year.<\/p>\n Critical Incident Analysis 2017<\/u><\/em> \u2013 The report was reviewed by the Committee and the Board.<\/p>\n ETHICS AND MISSION COMMITTEE<\/u><\/p>\n Values Integration Appraisal (VIA)<\/u> \u2013 Mr. David Levangie, Ms.\u00a0Lucie\u00a0Lombardo and Ms. Kim Roberts, VIA Appraisers, were welcomed to this meeting as guests.\u00a0 They were at the Centre to review our operations, ensuring values in the Catholic health care which the Centre provides.<\/p>\n Movie:\u00a0 The Last Breath<\/em><\/u> \u2013 Mrs. Lafrance-Allaire has reached out to the filmmaker to inquire about the feasibility of additional viewing options in our community.<\/p>\n Policy Review<\/u> \u2013 The Board of Directors approved two Corporate Policies as reviewed (no changes):<\/p>\n -Corporate Policy #3-a-26 re Guidelines for Use of Advance Directives for Healthcare Decisions; <\/em>and<\/p>\n -Corporate Policy #3-a-28 re Guidelines for Care at End of Life<\/em>.<\/p>\n COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING, FINANCE AND PERSONNEL RELATIONS COMMITTEE (CPFPRC)<\/u><\/p>\n Management Fiduciary Statement<\/u><\/em> \u2013 The Management Fiduciary Statement for the month of March 2018 <\/em>was approved by the Board of Directors.<\/p>\n Statement of Administrative Responsibility<\/u><\/em> \u2013 This statement describes the roles of Administration and the Audit Committee with respect to year-end financial statements.\u00a0 The statement was approved by the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting and referred to the Members of the Corporation for information.<\/p>\n Draft Audited Financial Statements<\/u><\/em> \u2013 These were presented and recommended for approval at the Annual Meeting.<\/p>\n Audit Findings Report<\/u><\/em> \u2013 This document was approved by the Board of Directors and referred to the Members of the Corporation for information.<\/p>\n PROFESSIONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE<\/u><\/p>\n Naloxone Nasal Spray<\/u> \u2013 This drug is now available through our Pharmacy and will be of value in the treatment of opioid overdose.<\/p>\n GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE<\/u><\/p>\n Resignation of Ms. Valerie Dor<\/u>\u00e9<\/u>, Vice-chairperson of the Board<\/u> — The Board of Directors accepted with regret Ms. Dor\u00e9\u2019s resignation which will be effective 21 May 2018.\u00a0 Mr.\u00a0Desnoyers thanked Ms.\u00a0Dor\u00e9 for her expertise and many hours of dedication and work for our Centre, and wished her well in her endeavours.<\/p>\n Board Member \/ Committee Member \/ Officers Appointment<\/u> — \u00a0In preparation for the Annual Meeting, the Committee made recommendations regarding appointment and reappointment of Directors including Officers (Mr.\u00a0Paul\u00a0Desnoyers, Chairperson and Mr. Mathieu Despatie, Vice-chairperson), and Ex-officio Members, as well as changes to some Board Committees.\u00a0 These recommendations were subsequently recommended at the Annual Meeting to the Members of the Corporation for approval.\u00a0 Annual reports from the Chairperson, Executive Director, and Medical Directors Dr. Patel and Dr.\u00a0Foley were also presented, approved and forwarded to the Members of the Corporation.<\/p>\n Executive Director\u2019s Performance Appraisal<\/u> \u2013 This electronic process will be initiated by Catholic Health International (CHI).<\/p>\n Governance Committee Terms of Reference<\/u> \u2013 The Board of Directors approved a minor revision regarding frequency of meetings.<\/p>\n EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES<\/u> \u2013 The Centre\u2019s Education Calendar for May\/June 2018 and Governance educational opportunities were circulated to the Board of Directors for information.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The next regular Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Tuesday, 26 June 2018 at noon in the Boardroom.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 16 May 2018.\u00a0 The Annual Meeting of the Board was held immediately prior to the regular meeting (see Governance Committee section).
