{"id":1353,"date":"2018-07-06T14:25:26","date_gmt":"2018-07-06T18:25:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sjccc.ca\/sjeng\/?p=1353"},"modified":"2018-07-06T14:25:26","modified_gmt":"2018-07-06T18:25:26","slug":"summary-of-the-june-2018-board-of-directors-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sjccc.ca\/sjeng\/?p=1353","title":{"rendered":"Summary of the June 2018 Board of Directors Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>REPORT FROM THE BOARD<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 26 June 2018.<\/p>\n<p><u>BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES<\/u><\/p>\n<p><u>Report from Catholic Health Alliance of Canada Annual Convention (CHAC)<\/u> \u2013 Dr.\u00a0Grant circulated a summary of this conference which she attended on May 9-11, 2018.\u00a0 The theme was \u201cToward Formation:\u00a0 Creating the path to strong lay leadership of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ in Canada\u201d.\u00a0 She also circulated, for Board Members to review, the \u201cAwaken Proof Points\u201d which are the supporting facts, figures, points of historical context, stories, and e-links that demonstrate the national and local relevance of the position statement and pillars.<\/p>\n<p><u>CORRESPONDENCE<\/u> \u2013 The Board of Directors noted the following cards of appreciation:<\/p>\n<p>-Thank You Card from Ms. Carol Penpeck for retirement flowers;<\/p>\n<p>-Thank You Card from the Bryan Family re death of Mrs. Fran Bryan; and<\/p>\n<p>-Thank You Card from Ms. Val\u00e9rie Dor\u00e9 re Bouquet (retiring Vice-chairperson).<\/p>\n<p><u>ADMINISTRATION REPORT<\/u> &#8212; Mrs. Lafrance-Allaire\u2019s report included <em>Values Integration Appraisal Report<\/em> (recognizes excellent work done at SJCCC), Centre for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) Accreditation Letter and Report (full three-year accreditation award, Leadership Team addressing areas for improvement), Good News Item (Financial Controller), and; and Census Data.\u00a0 Also discussed:<\/p>\n<p><u>Attestation<\/u> \u2013 In accordance with the <em>Broader Public Sector Accountability Act<\/em>, an <em>Attestation Form <\/em>and supporting schedules must be filed with the Champlain LHIN.\u00a0 The Board of Directors approved \u201cAppendix C \u2013 Attestation (re Consultants) for 01 April 2017 to 31 March 2018\u201d and \u201cSchedule A to Attestation\u201d as presented.<\/p>\n<p><u>French Language Services (FLS)<\/u> \u2013 The Centre has received a French Language Designation Certificate issued on 01 May 2018, recognizing that it is an official provider of FLS.\u00a0 Also attached was a congratulatory letter from the Minister of Francophone Affairs, recognizing our Centre\u2019s devotion to improving the quality of care offered.<\/p>\n<p><u>QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (QI) \/ SAFETY COMMITTEE<\/u><\/p>\n<p><em><u>Balanced Scorecard <\/u><\/em><u>(New Format)<\/u><em> \u2013 <\/em>A sample of the new format was introduced.\u00a0 This new format highlights the four key areas:\u00a0 Customer; Financial; People; and Internal Processes.\u00a0 These areas are in line with our <em>Vision<\/em> and <em>2018-19 Goals<\/em>.\u00a0 The new version will commence once the first quarter data results are available at the end of June.\u00a0 We will continue to monitor metrics as outlined by the Province using the former version now called the <em>Quality Assurance Scorecard <\/em>to keep track of indicators that require interventions and to ensure that we maintain the indicators in which we excel.<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Balanced Scorecard <\/u><\/em><u>(Current Format)<\/u> \u2013 The current <em>Balanced Scorecard <\/em>was reviewed.<\/p>\n<p><u>ETHICS AND MISSION COMMITTEE<\/u><\/p>\n<p><u>Movie:\u00a0 <em>The Last Breath<\/em><\/u><em> \u2013 <\/em>A tentative date of November 1<sup>st<\/sup> which is during Mission Week has been set for the viewing of this film.\u00a0 Filmmaker Annabelle\u00a0Loyola has confirmed that she would be available on that date.\u00a0 Appropriate marketing and publicity of the movie will be done.<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Values Integration Appraisal (VIA) Process Final Report<\/u><\/em> \u2013 This document was discussed at length by the Committee.\u00a0 The <em>VIA Process Final Report<\/em> will be followed-up and recommendations implemented.\u00a0 It was noted that the assessors were very complimentary of our Centre.<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Framework for Responding to Requests for Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID)<\/u><\/em> \u2013 There have been changes in this document from the Catholic Health Association of Ontario (CHAO) surrounding \u201cexceptional circumstances\u201d in providing assessment on site.\u00a0 The Centre\u2019s policies will be revised accordingly.<\/p>\n<p><u>Standing Agenda Item for Committee Members:\u00a0 Any Other Ethical Issues for Discussion<\/u> \u2013 This will become a stand-alone item on the Ethics and Mission Committee agenda.<\/p>\n<p><u>COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING, FINANCE AND PERSONNEL RELATIONS COMMITTEE (CPFPRC<\/u>)<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Financial Statements<\/u><\/em> \u2013 A surplus in each operation is forecast for year end.\u00a0 The Board of Directors approved the <em>Financial Statements for the Periods Ending 30 April 2018 and 31 May 2018 <\/em>as presented.<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Management Fiduciary Statement<\/u><\/em> &#8211; The Board of Directors approved the <em>Management Fiduciary Statement for April and May 2018.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><u>EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES<\/u> \u2013 The Centre\u2019s <em>Education Calendar<\/em> for June 2018 and Governance Educational Opportunities were circulated to the Board of Directors for information.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The next regular Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 04 September 2018 at noon in the Boardroom.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>REPORT FROM THE BOARD The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 26 June 2018.
