REPORT <\/u><\/strong>FROM<\/u><\/strong> THE <\/u><\/strong>BOARD<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 06 November 2018.\u00a0 Mrs.\u00a0Lafrance-Allaire offered the opening prayer, with special recognition of J\u00e9r\u00f4me le Royer de la Dauversi\u00e8re, founder of the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph, on his Feast Day.<\/p>\n CHAIRPERSON\u2019S REPORT<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Movie \u201cThe Last Breath\u201d<\/u> \u2013 Mr. Desnoyers noted that the film, \u201cThe Last Breath\u201d, screened at the Port Theatre on November 1st<\/sup> was well attended.\u00a0 The producer, Annabel Loyola, captured the human spirit.\u00a0 Ms. Loyola\u2019s first film about Jeanne Mance will also be purchased.<\/p>\n ADMINISTRATION REPORT<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 Mrs. Lafrance-Allaire\u2019s report included:\u00a0 Sub-acute Capacity Planning, Hospital Services Accountability Agreement (HSAA) Attestation re Parking<\/em>, Resident Quality Inspection (results explained by Ms. Gillet), Critical Incident Inspection, Pharmacy Accreditation Awarded, Flu Vaccination, Good News Items (Thank You Card re Slow-paced Rehabilitation; Letter to the Editor printed today thanking Community and Pommier Jewellers for Masquerade Fundraising Gala), and Census Data.<\/p>\n EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) Governance Education<\/u> — The Champlain LHIN has taken an initiative which would bring the Ontario Hospital Association\u2019s \u201cRural and Northern Health Care and Advanced Governance\u201d full-day education programme to the Champlain region for a fraction of the price of the usual Toronto cost.\u00a0 Costing would be based on the number of hospitals which agree to participate and the number of Directors per hospital would be unlimited.\u00a0 A large number of hospitals have already signed on, reducing the cost substantially.\u00a0 The Board of Directors endorsed participating in this project.<\/p>\n QUALITY IMPROVEMENT \/ SAFETY COMMITTEE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Balanced Scorecard<\/u><\/em> (Current Format)<\/u> \u2013 \u2013 In response to a question, Dr. Patel explained to the Board of Directors the Urinary Tract Infection Programme.<\/p>\n Membership \/ Nurse Practitioner<\/u> \u2013 The Board of Directors agreed with the appointment of Ms.\u00a0Meghan O\u2019Brien to the Committee.<\/p>\n COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING, FINANCE AND PERSONNEL RELATIONS COMMITTEE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Financial Statements<\/u><\/em> \u2013 Ms. Lalonde presented the statements.\u00a0 A surplus in each operation is forecast for year end.\u00a0 The St. Joseph\u2019s Villa operation is very close to budget.\u00a0 In the Hotel Dieu Hospital operation, the increase in drug costs continues to be monitored very carefully.\u00a0 One change implemented which should result in savings (i.e.\u00a0when medication changes occur) is that drugs will be dispensed for three days at a time instead of the current seven.\u00a0 The Board of Directors approved the Financial Statements for the Period Ending 30 September 2018 as<\/em> presented.<\/p>\n Management Fiduciary Statement<\/u><\/em> – The Board of Directors approved the Management Fiduciary Statement for September 2018.<\/em><\/p>\n GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Board Member Recruitment<\/u> — A Board of Directors Skills Matrix<\/em>, Board of Directors Position Responsibilities, <\/em>and an advertisement seeking Board Members are being drafted for presentation to the next Governance Committee meeting.<\/p>\n Board and Board Committee Workplans<\/u> \u2013 Theses are being drafted for the Board of Directors and each Board Committee.<\/p>\n EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 The Centre\u2019s Education Calendar<\/em> for November 2018 and Governance Educational Opportunities were circulated to the Board of Directors for information.<\/p>\n The next regular Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Tuesday, 04 December 2018 at noon in the
