The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 04 March 2014. The following matters were discussed:<\/p>\n
ADMINISTRATION REPORT<\/p>\n
Mrs. Ruest\u2019s report included follow-up information regarding Budget Advocacy, Long-Term Care Compliance, and Census data. Also discussed were:<\/p>\n
Health and Safety Policy \u2013 The required review of this Corporate Policy has taken place. The Board of Directors approved the policy as presented.<\/p>\n
Catholic Health Alliance of Canada (CHAC) Annual Conference \u2013 This conference will be held in Ottawa this year from April 30th to May 2nd.<\/p>\n
Long-Term Care Service Accountability Agreement (L-SAA) \u2013 The \u201cDeclaration of Compliance\u201d was approved by the Board of Directors in order to meet the requirements of the L-SAA.<\/p>\n
COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING, FINANCE AND PERSONNEL RELATIONS COMMITTEE<\/p>\n
Financial Statements \u2013 Both operations are close to budget. Sick leave costs are high. The Board of Directors approved the Financial Statements for the period ending 31 January 2014 as presented.<\/p>\n
Management Fiduciary Statement \u2013 The Board of Directors approved the Management Fiduciary Statement for January 2014. This document no longer needs to be referred to the Members of the Corporation.<\/p>\n
Budget Presentation \/ Operating and Capital Plan 2014-15 \u2013 Mrs. Ruest presented the Operating and Capital Plan for 2014\/15 including the notes and assumptions in the budget document. The budget has been balanced without cutting services. Mrs. Ruest advised the Board, however, that the plan is a living document which could be subject to change once funding allocations are announced. The proposed budget has been reviewed by the Fiscal Advisory Committee as well as the Finance Committee.<\/p>\n
The Board of Directors recommended to the Members of the Corporation the Operating and Capital Plan 2014-15 as follows:<\/p>\n
Operating<\/p>\n
-Hotel Dieu Hospital (Complex Continuing Care) $8,997,620 with a surplus of $8,825; and<\/p>\n
-St. Joseph\u2019s Villa (Long-Term Care) $12,193,941 with a surplus of $13,281;<\/p>\n
(For a combined surplus for the Centre of $22,206);<\/p>\n
Capital<\/p>\n
-Combined for Hotel Dieu Hospital and St. Joseph\u2019s Villa: $262,000.<\/p>\n
AUXILIARY REPORT<\/p>\n
Mrs. Lamond highlighted the following items of her report: Genie Wish, Garage and Bake Sale on May 3rd, and her retirement from the Board of Directors. Ms. MacLennan thanked Mrs. Lamond on behalf of the Board of Directors and the Corporation for hers and the Auxiliary\u2019s much appreciated ongoing efforts.<\/p>\n
FISCAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE<\/p>\n
Operating Plan 2014-15 \u2013 The Committee met to review and discuss the hospital\u2019s 2014-15 Operating Plan.<\/p>\n
