{"id":2387,"date":"2021-02-09T11:46:01","date_gmt":"2021-02-09T16:46:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sjccc.ca\/sjeng\/?p=2387"},"modified":"2021-02-09T11:54:11","modified_gmt":"2021-02-09T16:54:11","slug":"summary-of-the-february-2021-board-of-directors-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sjccc.ca\/sjeng\/?p=2387","title":{"rendered":"Summary of the February 2021 Board of Directors Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #43669c;\"><strong><u>REPORT <\/u><\/strong><strong><u>FROM<\/u><\/strong><strong><u> THE <\/u><\/strong><strong><u>BOARD<\/u><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 02 February 2021.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #43669c;\"><strong><u>BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES<\/u><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<u>Membership Response to Board Request<\/u> \u2013 A memorandum from Dr. Stewart dated 30 November 2020 indicated the following decision by the Members of the Corporation:<br \/>\na)Bylaws to be Amended to Include the New Public Relations and Branding Committee\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Approved.<br \/>\n<u><\/u><\/p>\n<p><u>Diversity, Equity and Inclusion<\/u> \u2013 A guest speaker from Miller Thomson will be scheduled to do a virtual workshop on the topics of diversity, equity and inclusion. The workshop will be booked sometime in April; dates will be brought forward at the Governance Committee.<br \/>\n<strong><u><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #43669c;\">ADMINISTRATION REPORT<\/span><\/u><\/strong> \u2013 Mrs. Lafrance-Allaire\u2019s report included: Management Goals and Objectives 2020-2021 \u2013 Update Q3, Good News Items (beautiful thank you note from a family member of a resident who has passed) and Census. Also discussed:<br \/>\n<u><\/u><\/p>\n<p><u>COVID-19<\/u> \u2013 The Hospital Accountability Planning Submission (HAPS), the renewal of the Long-Term Care Home Service Accountability Agreement (LSAA), the renewal of the Hospital Service Accountability Agreement (HSAA) and the Quality Improvement Plan for both St. Joseph\u2019s Villa and Hotel Dieu Hospital have all been postponed by the provincial government due to the pandemic. These items are typically brought forward to the Board of Directors either in January, February or March.<br \/>\n<u><br \/>\nCorporate Policy Review<\/u> \u2013 The Board of Directors approved the following policies as reviewed or revised:<br \/>\n-Corporate Policy #3-a-66 re <em>Privacy Breach Management<\/em><em>;<\/em><br \/>\n-Corporate Policy #3-a-67 re <em>Privacy Logging and Auditing<\/em>;<br \/>\n-Corporate Policy #3-a-68 re <em>Privacy and Security Training<\/em>;<br \/>\n-Corporate Policy #3-a-69 re Privacy Inquiries and Complaints; and<br \/>\n-Corporate Policy #3-a-70 re <em>Privacy Policy<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #43669c;\"><strong><u>QUALITY IMPROVEMENT\/SAFETY COMMITTEE<\/u><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<u>Resident Survey Results \u2013 2020<\/u> \u2013 St. Joseph\u2019s Villa proceeded with the surveys in 2020 where many other homes decided not to during the pandemic. A lot of metrics were down compared to last year but considering the pandemic, results were pretty good. The survey results are reflective of the changes and restrictions that have been put in place because of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p><u>Patient Survey Results \u2013 2020<\/u> \u2013 COVID-19 has impacted the Patient Survey Results as well.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #43669c;\"><strong><u>COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING, FINANCE AND PERSONNEL RELATIONS COMMITTEE (CPFPRC)<\/u><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<em><u>Financial Statements<\/u><\/em> \u2013 The statements were reviewed.\u00a0 The Board of Directors\u00a0approved the\u00a0<em>Financial\u00a0Statements for the period ending 30 November 2020 and 31 December 2020 <\/em>as presented.<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Budget<\/u><\/em> \u2013 The budget presentation was reviewed and accepted for information<br \/>\npurposes. Request from the Ministry to submit the budget continues to be deferred.<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Management Fiduciary Statement<\/u><\/em> <em>\u2013<\/em> The Board of Directors approved the\u00a0<em>Management Fiduciary Statement for November and December 2020.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #43669c;\"><strong><u>AUXILIARY REPORT<\/u><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe Auxiliary will generously lend out the space in the gift shop to allow space for COVID-19 testing.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #43669c;\"><strong><u>NEW BUSINESS<\/u><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<u>Board of Directors Policy to Review<\/u> \u2013 The Board of Directors approved Board of Directors policy #2-a-3 <em>re Directors<\/em><em>\u2019 \/ Board Committee Members\u2019 Code of Conduct<\/em><em>.<\/em><br \/>\n<u><\/u><\/p>\n<p><u>Bylaws to Revise<\/u><em> \u2013 <\/em>Sections 1.1 and 4.1(b)(i) of the Administrative Bylaws were revised and recommended to the Members of the Corporation.<br \/>\n<u><\/u><\/p>\n<p><u>Standing Item: Annual Workplan<\/u> &#8211; The workplan for the month of February was reviewed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #43669c;\"><strong><em>The next regular Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for<\/em><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #43669c;\"><strong><em>Tuesday, 02 March 2021 at noon via video conference due to COVID-19.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>REPORT FROM THE BOARD The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 02 February 2021.
