{"id":2888,"date":"2022-01-07T10:22:24","date_gmt":"2022-01-07T15:22:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sjccc.ca\/sjeng\/?p=2888"},"modified":"2022-01-07T10:22:24","modified_gmt":"2022-01-07T15:22:24","slug":"summary-of-the-december-2021-board-of-directors-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sjccc.ca\/sjeng\/?p=2888","title":{"rendered":"Summary of the December 2021 Board of Directors Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3670ad;\"><b>REPORT FROM THE BOARD<\/b><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 07 December 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3670ad;\"><b>CHAIRPERSON\u2019S REPORT<\/b><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr. Desnoyers shared information about multiple webinars he has attended in the past month including a three part Long-Term Care\u00a0 Governance and Leadership webinar series and the Regional Ethics Rounds<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Indigenous Perspective on the Continuum of Care\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Mr. Desnoyers gave a verbal summary of the webinars to the Board Members. In the Leadership webinar series, they spoke about \u201c21 questions\u201d. It is a document regarding guidance for healthcare boards on what they should ask senior leaders about risk. The Board agreed that this may be a good exercise for the Board of Directors and Seniors Team. It could be a special session of the Board. The <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Catholic Health Association of Ontario was offering a session on the topic <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cCreating Awareness in Serving Our Indigenous and LGBTQS2 Communities\u201d. The session was taking place at the same time as this Board meeting, therefore, the recording will be distributed to the Board Members if received.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3670ad;\"><b>ADMINISTRATION REPORT<\/b><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mrs. Lafrance-Allaire\u2019s report included: The Upper Canada and Cornwall Area (UCCA) Ontario Health Team (OHT) update (currently putting together a spending plan to address three separate projects), Vaccination, LTC Development Application, Remote Care Monitoring [RCM] (program continues to grow, currently supporting a total of 35 patients in the virtual ward), Ministry of LTC Inspection Report (three critical incidents) and Census Data. Also discussed:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Miscellaneous-Policies<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-Corporate Policy #3-a-75 re <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Resident and Patient Records \u2013 Access to and Release <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0&#8211;<\/span><b>DEFERRED.<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-Corporate Policy #3-a-21 re <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Research Proposals<\/span><\/i> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211;<\/span><b>DEFERRED.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Board of Directors approved the following policies as reviewed\/revised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3670ad;\"><b>QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (QI) \/ SAFETY COMMITTEE<\/b><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Policy to Revise<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Board of Directors approved the following policy as revised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-Board of Directors policy #2-a-20 re <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quality Improvement <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3670ad;\"><span><b>COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING, FINANCE AND PERSONNEL RELATIONS COMMITTEE (CPFPRC<\/b><b>)<\/b><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Financial Statements<\/span><\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 The Board of Directors approved the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Financial Statements for the Period Ended 31 October 2021 <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as amended.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2022-2023 Budget<\/span><\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; The Board of Directors recommended to the Members of the Corporation the budget which has already been reviewed by the Fiscal Advisory Committee:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Long-Term Care: $15,926,822 with a projected surplus of $413<\/span><\/i><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Complex Continuing Care: $10,493,786 with a projected surplus of $275<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; and<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-(Combined) Capital Budget of $36,000 for the Centre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Management Fiduciary Statement<\/span><\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 The Board of Directors approved the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Management Fiduciary Statement for October 2021.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Policy to Revise<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Board of Directors approved the following policy as revised with a small added change to number 13.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-Board of Directors policy #2-a-10 re <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Comprehensive Planning, Finance and Personnel Relations Committee<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Standing Item: CPFPRC Annual Workplan<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; The workplan was revised to add \u201cReviews information collected through the annual Employee Survey and any initiatives proposed by Administration in response to survey findings\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Board of Directors approved the CPFPRC Annual Workplan as revised.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3670ad;\"><b>AUXILIARY REPORT<\/b><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Auxiliary is happy to be back and functioning. Mrs. Vincelli thanked all who helped to renovate the gift shop, especially Mr. Ingram and Ms. Hollingsworth. The Auxiliary is selling tickets for the Auxiliary Christmas raffle. The tickets are selling well. It is with great sadness that Mrs. Vincelli announced the passing of Ms. Jane Anderson. She will be missed terribly. Mr. Tom Wallace will be the new treasurer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3670ad;\"><b>FISCAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE<\/b><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Policy to Review<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Board of Directors approved the following policy as reviewed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-Board of Directors policy #2-a-28 re <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fiscal Advisory Committee\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Annual Workplan<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; The workplan was revised to add \u201cAwareness of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Board of Directors approved the Fiscal Advisory Committee Annual Workplan as revised.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3670ad;\"><b>PUBLIC RELATIONS AND BRANDING COMMITTEE<\/b><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hotel Dieu Rehabilitation \u2013 Discussion<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Conversation was had regarding the name of the program in Hotel Dieu Hospital. The Board of Directors agreed that \u201cRehabilitation\u201d would be a good name for the program since it does note create any limitations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Board of Directors approved that the program in Hotel Dieu be named Rehabilitation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crisis Communication<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; A crisis communication plan will be worked on to assure there is something in place if ever an issue were to arise. SJCCC has a Pandemic Plan but it should have something that is more general in nature.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3670ad;\"><span><b>NEW BUSINESS<\/b><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SJCCC Explore the Grounds Video<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; The SJCCC Explore the Grounds video was played during the Board of Directors meeting. The next step will be to record a video during the winter. It was suggested to capture the cross lit up at night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The SJCCC Explore the Grounds video will be shared with Catholic Health International.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3670ad;\"><span><b>OTHER BUSINESS<\/b><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Standing Item: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Annual Workplan<\/span><\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The workplan for the month of December was reviewed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Standing Item: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)<\/span> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Regional Ethics Rounds December 2021 &#8211;<\/span> <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe Indigenous Perspective on the Continuum Care\u201d<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; It was requested that Mrs. McNally <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">attend the next Board of Directors meeting to present a summary of<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Regional Ethics Rounds <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The Indigenous Perspective on the Continuum of Care&#8221;.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Standing Item: Policies to be Reviewed by the Board of Directors<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Reviewed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #3670ad;\"><b><i>The next regular Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 11 January 2022 at 1130 hours via video conference due to COVID-19.<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>REPORT FROM THE BOARD The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 07 December 2021.
