The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 07 October 2014. <\/span><\/p>\n

CORRESPONDENCE<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Thank You Card from Sister Cuddihy<\/span><\/span><\/span> \u2013 In this card, Sister Cuddihy thanked the Board of Directors and Staff for the flowers sent during her illness.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

ADMINISTRATION REPORT<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs. Ruest\u2019s report included information on the Ministers\u2019 Mandate Letters, Good News Items (thank you letters from two summer students), and Census data. Also discussed were:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Policy Review<\/span><\/span><\/span> \u2013 The <\/span><\/span>Board of Directors Annual Evaluation <\/i><\/span><\/span>policy has been revised to better reflect our operation. The Board approved the revisions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

French Language Services<\/span><\/span><\/span> — We have received feedback from our FLS Planning Officer of the FLS Network of Eastern Ontario. In order to submit our request for FLS designation, there remains one criterion for designation that is unmet: \u201cthat provisions for effective representation of Francophones on the Board of Directors and its Committees are included in the <\/span><\/span>Administrative Bylaws <\/i><\/span><\/span>and must reflect the proportion of the Francophone population within the community served.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, the Board of Directors recommended to the Members of the Corporation two <\/span><\/span>Bylaw <\/i><\/span><\/span>revisions to this effect. The Board also recommended that that St. Joseph\u2019s Continuing Care Centre request designation under the <\/span><\/span>French Language Services Act <\/i><\/span><\/span>for the four additional services to be added to the Centre\u2019s existing partial designation, specifically: Complex Continuing Care Therapy, Long-Term Care Therapy, Environmental Services, and Spiritual Care.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Catholic Health Association of Ontario (CHAO) Conference<\/span><\/span><\/span> \u2013 Mrs. Ruest, Mrs. Konink and Ms. Gillet will attend the CHAO Conference as alumnae of the Catholic Health International (CHI) Leadership Course. CHI will cover their expenses.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Quarterly Catholic Health International (CHI) Meetings<\/span><\/span><\/span> \u2013 Mrs. Ruest will travel to Antigo, Wisconsin in two weeks to attend quarterly Catholic Health International (CHI) meetings and also to visit the newly-developed Langley Hospital and St. Joseph\u2019s Residence.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (QI) \/ SAFETY COMMITTEE<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

QI Collaborative to Reduce Antipsychotic Medication Use in Long-Term Care<\/span><\/span><\/span> \u2013 The Centre applied to participate but was not selected to be a member of the collaborative. However, we will continue this initiative independently.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Risk Management Plan 2014<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/span> \u2013 This was accepted by the Committee.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING, FINANCE AND PERSONNEL RELATIONS COMMITTEE<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Management Fiduciary Statement<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/span> \u2013 <\/i><\/span><\/span>The Board of Directors approved the <\/span><\/span>Management Fiduciary Statement <\/i><\/span><\/span>for the month of August 2014.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Financial Statements<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/span> \u2013 Mr. Desnoyers reviewed the financial position of the Centre. The statements reflect the recently-announced 2014-15 Long-Term Care funding. The forecasts to year end for both operations remain on budget. The Board approved the statements.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

MEDICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Professional Advisory Committee (PAC)<\/span><\/span><\/span> \u2013 Dr. Foley explained that other professions can participate on the PAC (i.e. Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Dietitian, Pharmacist, Nurse Practitioner). Some disciplines attend every three months. This structure is working well at other facilities.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> \u2013 The Education Calendar for October 2014 and Governance educational opportunities were circulated to the Board of Directors for information. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The next regular Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n
