Laura MacKenzie
Health, Safety and Education Coordinator
Laura wears many hats at SJCCC. She is a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Occupational Health and Safety, infection prevention and control, and employee education. She plays a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of all staff, residents, visitors, and volunteers is met. In collaboration with her team, she helps ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation and standards across the Centre.
As Education Coordinator for the Centre, she organizes in-services, certifications, and training programs for staff across all departments. Additionally, she serves as the Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Lead, implementing key interventions such as hand hygiene protocols, proper use of personal protective equipment, outbreak management strategies, and the monitoring of illness trends among residents and staff. Laura brings a comprehensive and compassionate approach to workplace health, and we are fortunate to have her on our team.
Outside of her professional life, she is a proud mother to a grown son and a true nature enthusiast. Born and raised in a small hamlet on the Ontario/Quebec border, she enjoys country living. Her favourite pastimes include camping, kayaking, snowmobiling, and sitting by the water, and she credits her happiest moments spent walking through the forest with leaves crunching underfoot in Autumn.
